Costume Ideas.

These are some of the costume ideas we have for the characters in the background of our video.
This is the sort of fairy costume we would have , but we will probably just have someone in fairy wings and a skirt and vest etc.
This is the sort of Alice In Wonderland Costume we would like. I might have acces to one so thats a bonus!
This is the sort of costume we would like for the mad hatter, Top Hat and a waistcoat. Easy Enough to find.

And this is what we would LOVE for our bunny outfit, but somethings telling me that not going to happen, so we will probably just have bunny ears and a bunny tail etc..

Make up ideas.

Our group havnt really disgussed makeup and costume so i decided to experiment. I look gross.
These are some disgusting pictures i took of make up ideas.
I used harly anything apart from the statement eyes.
The glitter fits in with the light concept and i think the bold blue would really stand out and produce effect.
The rest i just kept simple really.

Timeline lesson.

This is me and rob doing the timeline task.
This was quite difficult as the song we have is broken into a lot of sections.
However we done it and i think we now know the song better than before.

Au Revoir Simone Digipack.

These are some images i took of the web that i found of Au Revoir Simone.
I think these sorts of images would be really good for the DigiPack we have to make.
The Photography in it self is good, but when i looked more closely at the pictures they all have a element of light in them which we plan to incorporate into our video.
I think they look really effective and would love our images for the digipack to turn out something like this.

Project Evaluation.

What are you most excited about on this Project.
Im most excited about working with a new bunch of people.
I think it will be intresting to see on the ideas we come up with together as a group.

What are you most Worried about.
I am most worried about the fact that we may not be able to get power for the lights we want in our video, as this is one of the main concepts holding our idea together.

How will you overcome this concern.
We have to speak to someone in the art department at Long Road to see if they will let us hook up an extension lead for our lights.
However if this isnt alowed we came up with the idea of using candles insted of lights.

Photogarphy Task.

On friday we were asked to go and take some pictures that could help represent our idea or image for our video.
Unfortunatly it was freezing outside, which is where most of our shots needed to be taken, plus we didnt really have the right setting, so we decided to go against going outside for as little as possible.

However we did manage to get these images of ......a tree.

The only other shots we could really have were of our setup for our video.

This picture represents the setup we want.

Rob (left) represents the Bass Player.

Me (middle) represents Lead Singer.

Ali (Left) represents keyboard player.

Shot List.

We had to look at 3 music videos, one from Hurtwood House, One Profesional and One Student Video.
They all had to be of the same genre of music as our chosen song.
We had to count the shots in each video and compare them.

Hurtwood House.
Sweet Disposition - 33 cuts in one minute.

Profesional.
Sad Song- Au Revoir Simone -17 cuts in first minute.

Student Video.
Where you go- 11 cuts in first minute.

We noticed that the student video had less shots than the other two , so maybe thats a challenge that we could try and get over, by giving a larger variety of shots.

Sweet Disposition- Hurtwood House.

This is the Video Sweet Disposition.
This is the cut made by Hurtwood House Media.
This video actually links to the video we are planning to make for Shadows.
Im guessing all of the props were brought with their budget.
If we were to make this video we would obviously go about it in the way were planning to for our video.
Therefore we plan to use the back of long road as its away from any traffic, roads etc.
We are also planning to use lights like them, and we could easily just use old christmas lights etc, and get power from the art block nearby.
We can use our own clothes, and just use natural light.

Björk and Chris Cunningham Interview

More Ideas.

For the intro to our song it takes a bit of time to get to the lyrics so my idea was to have on of the characters leading the camera into the forest. For example a character popping out from behind a tree and doing a 'come here' motion with his/her finger so this will intice the viewer. This will then lead the camera into the main location where the band will be.

Ideas i had for the costumes of the characters where fairy tale themed; for example Queen Of hearts,Alice in woderland, Rabbits, Mad Hatter etc...

This is an example of one of the costumes we will use.

Shadows.

This image was a Big inspiration to our idea, and this is how we would like our setting to look but instead of the furniture we would have our band and instruments, Keyboard, guitar etc.. and our lead singer. I really like the lights hanging in the tree and we would like to put this concept into our video if we can find power for the lights. I love the dreamy atmosphere and the peaceful atmosphere will compliment our song choice.

Alice- Jan Svankmajer.

This is an abstract look at the film Alice in Wonderland. The story line is a lot more disturbing than the original and has a completely different feel to it.
But in the video i like the animation side to it and it makes you watch more.

Smirnoff advert-Inspiration.

This advert really appealed to me as the characters in the background relate to our idea, but on a bigger scale.
The fairytale, and woodland concept to our video also relates to the advert.
This is what i had in mind for the characters in our video but on a smaller scale.

Moodboard for Everywhere.

Unfortunatly i couldnt upload my moodboard to blogger as it wouldnt allow my computer to save it as a jpg.
and i couldnt even take a screem grab as the button has broke.
But what my moodboard consisted of was pictures of a regualar teenagers life.
Here are the pictures i used, unedited.

The pictures would have been better but i had been at work all day and only just recieved the email about the second moodboard as i got in.

Treatment.

This is a picture of me and my treatment for the song Everywhere.

:)

On tuesday we will be pitching our idea for Shadows.
I love our idea and the vintage/fairytale theme really appeals to me.
We want to incorporate Light into our video and we hope to hang fairy lights all throught the trees of a woodland area (not sure yet where.)
I also really liked the idea, of the Alice In Wonderland theme, although not everything is going to be based around that, however we thought just a few small things could make our project stand out more. For example i thought we could go for a more Tea Party effect, and i liked the idea of hanging things in the tree for example, like the Drink me bottle in alice in wonderland.

I really like this Photo as i love the lighting and the natural look to it.

I think its important in our pitch we get across that our whole idea is not just based around alice in wonderland as that would be a bit cliche, even though some of our ideas have been based on that.

I know that 2 other groups want the same song as us, but i think that hopefully our idea will be seen as better as i think our moodboard gave more of an idea of what we want our video to be like.

I think our idea is simple yet effective and lets just hope for the best. :)

More Inspiration.

I really love these Photos i found, the first one is really cool and the lighting in it would fit in really well with our pitch for shadows.
The second one although it doesnt really link to our theme i love the vintage look to it and the colours really drew me in.

24.01.10

So today i found this image which i really like and would relate to our idea for Shadows.
It fits in with the light theme we are going for and i really like the daisys in the photo as they also fit in with the kind of woodland setting we plan to have. It also reminds me of a almost fairytale atmosphere and would fit in with our alice in wonderland idea.

These are Jasmines videos that she made.
I wasnt here for the Presentation, but have watched both her videos and think there really good :)
Above there is also some material from jasmines presentation and later i will upload some notes that other people took.

Another Favourite Music Video.

This is another Music Video i really like.
I just think that the story line is really good and the way its been filmed is really effective.
The way its been filmed is really good and the editing is really well done.
I think the props are really good, and really effective especially the confetti at the end.
I Love Michael Buble :)

My Generation Edit.

this is my edit for the my generation music video.
i decided to keep the cuts and takes simple and chose not to put any effects on it as it would over complicate it.. and also i think the enthusiastic preformances make up for it
I tried to get every preformer in the shots and tried to synch up the music to the movement best as possible.. Overall i think it came out okay...but if i had more time i would of spent time on effects and tried to synch up better.

My Generation Filming.

Practice Digipack.

These are the digipacks i made.
I think they went really well for a first try and that the images worked really well together.
However i think the advert could of been better and next time i will use better images.

last years student work

This is one of last years music videos. I really enjoyed watching it as it was just really good to watch and it kept your attention.
The shots were varied which was really good but i think they could of used more locations as it would of been more interesting.
The lipsynch is really well done and i like how they used loads of different people in the video.

Shapes video.

Unfortunatly i wasnt here for the shapes session but have borrowed Yasmins Shapes video to embedd on my blog. I think Yasmins shape video is really good and she worked the shapes really well.

:)

Kareoke Session.

On Tuesdays session we done a kareoke session where we were put into groups, given a song, and asked to preform it on camera and then after to synch it up. We had the song Wannabe by the Spice Girls, and preformed in a group of 4. We gav each other certain lines to sing. We also filmed many shots a medium shot, low angled shot, moving, and close up. We preformed each shot about 3 times so as to make sure we had enough footage.

After we had filmed it we split of into pairs to edit it. Me and yas decided to edit together, and i think we done really well, the editing was really clear, and the synching was too a good standard, and all the words matched up. I think if we had more time we could of edited some shots to get a good effect, but personally i think it was good just being simple.

Altogether i think the video turned out really well.

Thursday 14 January 2010

I was a Club Scout was a 2 man indie band form Long Bennington, England, Consisting of William Bowerman and Tod Marriot. They formed in 2006 and split in 2008.

This is the bands most recent album cover

I Was a Cub Scout was originally a one-man band, consisting of Todd Marriot who collaborated with various individuals, none of whom occupied a residency within the group until William Bowerman officially joined the band in mid 2006.

The band spent about six months playing house parties and night clubs across England, their exposure gaining them some popularity. They have also maximized their exposure by touring extensively, playing in the 2007 Carling and Download Festivals, as well as embarking on a tour with DARTZ!.

Four singles have been released, each of which has had considerable airplay. IWACS released their debut album, I Want You to Know That There Is Always Hope—produced by Hugh Padgham—in February 2008. The duo consider it to be their best work yet.

The band toured with Kill Hannah and ¡Forward Russia!, however they were forced to pull out of the Minus The Bear tour for undisclosed reasons.

The band toured in February, promoting the single "Pink Squares", and their debut album.

On 5 June 2008 it was confirmed by the band via a MySpace bulletin that they would be splitting. They honoured their tour commitments through June and July, their show on July 14 of 2008 being their last.

Favourite Music Video.

Above is the music video i chose to look at. If im being honest i just love take that so thats half the reason i chose it.
However this isnt the only reason i chose it the whole story of the video and the direction just draws the viewer in.
The whole thing just reminds me of the england,. being traditional, the side you dont see in the news. It just automatically puts a smile on the viewers face:)
In the video you also get to see all the characters you dont see in everyday life, it just brings across a family atmosphere.

I especially like the shots that highlight the individuals emotions. For example there is a shot of a young child with an ice cream that just invites the viewer in and is the sort of thing you see at home.

I also like the fact the video doesnt just focus on the band itself, it is focusing on the audience and there reaction, this is different as pop bands usually focus mainly on them.

I love how the colours are so bright and the song just makes you smile :D

These are the 2 experimental projects we carried out on tuesday. The First video is the task involving syncing the sound to the movement of the mouth.
This will help us in our final projects as the video we record wont be live music so we will have to match the sound up to the video.

The second video is a video we made being given a selection of clips and some music to choose from. We had to choose the music and find the most appropriate clips that we thought went
with the music.

I think we done quite well with the 2 tasks we done as they were both new skills we were learning. I think we done especially well with the syncing task and i think it went really well.
